the last six months i have dedicated myself to learning the basics of culinary artistry. today was my last day of class. almost two weeks ago i began working at "indish." it's an indian fusion restaurant here in portland. once i've clocked 360 hours of work at indish i will have fulfilled the requirements of my externship and will officially graduate from oregon culinary institute. it's a finished up our "new-comers home group" last weekend. this sunday we have a prayer gathering, but after that we're looking to find a new home group to be a part of. we're really enjoying evergreen. for the first time since we moved. my mom and dad are coming the last week of december, and mom and dad-in-law are coming the following week. we're pretty excited. by the way, if any of you get an itch to get the heck out of dodge feel free to come see us. we have a tiny apartment, but a great couch, and word on the street is there may be a luxurious air mattress making it's home with us in the new restaurant. and the weekends change each week, though they often include a lot of relaxation. we've been doing some exploring (most of you have seen the photos of those adventures), and we hope to continue exploring oregon and washington. it is an amazingly beautiful area. we've also been checking out different churches. we found one that we'll be returning to this week to further experience. have been filmed in astoria including free willie, kindergarten cop, teenage mutant ninja turtles three, THE GOONIES, and others.</div><div>we totally saw mikey &amp; brand's house from the movie the goonies!</div><div>the goonies house was only about two blocks from the school from kindergarten cop which is only a few blocks from the house in free willie... crazy.</div><div><br /></div><div>here good:<br />ryan and lindsey are now engaged to be married. good news. ryan and i took a road trip last week to lake of the ozarks so ryan could ask lindsey's dad if he was down for it. he, of course, was quite excited. we left thursday around four in the afternoon and arrived at kevin's (lindsey's dad) around eleven after getting lost in the heart of meth country. we told lindsey we were taking a spontaneous road trip to KC... she didn't buy it. kevin wanted to hang out all night so we didn't end up getting home 'til eight in the morning. we had to lie to lindsey about why it was so late. we told her we stayed with here sister in overland park. she called our bluff. she also called her sister. she was pissed. she knew we were lying because she had randomly heard from someone the night we were gone that we went to the lake. so ryan had to tell her why. she responded with an, "i love you... and you are a terrible liar." then last night he popped the question. she, obviously, said yes. <br /><br />what's poppin':<br />new music, that's what. <br />the raconteurs... whoa. <br />the black crowes... yes. <br />counting crows... finally!<br />gnarls barkley... mmm-hmm.<br /><br />what's crackin':<br />30 day move out notice. to our dismay, but with our eyes on the future, kristy and i are evacuating riverside at the end of april... though only physically.<br /><br />what it is:<br />it is monday. that's all i got there.<br /><br />how you livin':<br />i'm livin'. but i'm living with some pain. about four years ago i was having some back problems due to some heavy lifting at a warehouse job. i went to the chiropractor, paid my money, got fixed up, and quit going (like people on a tight budget do, against their chiropractor's wishes). well it's back. i don't know if it's stress or what. but i talked to one of my regulars at the coffee shop who is a chiropractor/yoga instructor. he's always told me that chiropractic work is a temporary fix as opposed to practicing healthy living, eating, exercise, and yoga... he offered to show my around his studio. sounds like i may be checking <br />out the yoga thing.<br /><br />what's happenin':<br />mini vacation. kristy many cook books (apparently they just don't sell). this past week i bought a new one all about pizza. it's great because i've been doing homemade pizza for a while now, and i have been looking for GLADIATORS!!!<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>i ended up only using a sauce recipe i found in the new book, and actually it was a variation of the recipe. i also tried the recipe for the crust, but it didn't do so well, so i went with my usual recipe.</div><div><br /></div><div>pizza on the menu tonight:<br /></div><div>fresh thick sliced mozzarella, an oregano/garlic tomato sauce with olive
